It has loads of info including the instruction manual and a new advert. It ships with Roboreptile itself, the remote control and a hood. The remote control has three settings giving a total of 28 different functions. There is also the option to program up to 20 steps.
Amazon now has a page up for Roboreptile orders in the UK. It currently states that it can be delivered in 1-2 weeks but I don’t think even Amazon will manage that.
Roboreptile is priced at £89.99 in the UK which compares pretty poorly to the US price of $119.99
It’s hard to find any new news at the moment about the Roboreptile and since I’m pretty new to this range of toys I thought I would spend some time looking back at Roboraptor and find out what that was capable of. I found a few cool videos on Youtube so they are linked below.
It looks pretty cool but I’m pleased that it seems like the roboreptile will be moving a bit better as the roboraptor seems to just shuffle along. I think a lot of the fun of these guys is the modifications that various websites suggest. I will be reading more at sites like this one
but I’m still not sure if it will actually be realeased with this or not. I’ve been following some discussion about this and some people are expecting it to be voice activated although I’m not so sure. More details if I manage to track them down!
Amazon.com have added the Roboreptile to their site and while the details are pretty sketchy it is available for pre order at a price of $119.99 which will probably come down a bit once the competition start selling too. The scheduled date is August 1, 2006 and the product description is
Fully automated demo modes. Bi-pedal walking motion in full strides. Multiple functions with easy to use remote. Multiple vision systems with color recognition.
No sign of it on the Amazon UK site but I’m sure it will be there soon. I don’t want to have to import mine just to get it first!!
There also seems to have been a fake video released. You can read more info in this forum thread. The roboreptile in the fake video does look a bit disappointing but then I wonder where the video could have come from in the first place maybe it’s an early prototype.
which is a video of the roboreptile with creator Mark Tilden. You’ll need to watch the video till it’s about 1 minute in and that’s where our favourite little guy puts in an appearance.
